We are almost through December and many people are starting to think about their New Year’s resolutions. We’ve compiled some plumbing-related ideas for resolutions that you can stick to throughout the year to help save the environment — and your wallet!
- I will not flush things down the toilet that don’t belong there (baby wipes, feminine products, cooking grease, etc)
- I will keep my water heater thermostat at 120 degrees, even during the winter (every 10 degrees you turn it down, you’ll save 3 to 5 percent on your electric bill each month!)
- I will avoid overly long showers and turn the water off when lathering up
- I will not continuously run the water when brushing my teeth
- I will not run the water continuously when washing my hands (turn the water off when lathering)
- I will only run the dishwasher when it’s filled to capacity
- I will use the proper load size setting on my washing machine when washing clothes
- I will locate my home’s water shut off valve and know how to use it in the event of an emergency
- I will adhere to my county’s lawn watering and car washing restrictions
- I will purchase inexpensive hair traps and use them in my shower drains
- I will call Avis Plumbing at (239) 542-4421 for any plumbing issues or emergencies
